The forest is one of the Park’s two great natural resources and it has shown a remarkable improvement in health and size over the life of the Adirondack Park.  The State is in the process of making its largest purchase of new land for the Forest Preserve in 100 years.  Going forward this vision calls for keeping as much forest land as possible in easements rather than being put in the Forest Preserve.
